PULSUM
The PULSUM faithfully recreates the analog circuit of a 1968 Shin-ei Univibe, utilizing the 4-stage optical phase-shift circuit acclaimed for its unmistakable sound.
Through a simple and intuitive layout that still invites exploration and adds a layer of depth, the new PULSUM takes a pedal that was already exceptional—known for its three-dimensional sound and "plug and play" experience—and elevates it to a whole new level.
The DEPTH and RATE knobs provide the traditional control you expect from a modulation pedal. The VOLUME control offers massive output to compensate for the volume drops notoriously known in the original Uni-vibe circuit, while the BLEND knob offers a continuous sweep between the clean Uni-vibe preamp signal and the vibrato signal (which in traditional pedals is toggled via a switch). The classic vibe sound you are looking for sits with the BLEND at "noon", but other tones reminiscent of a tremolo or Leslie cabinets emerge as you explore the BLEND's range.
But let’s get to the new features! Completing the PULSUM's control formula is a traditional TAP TEMPO, allowing you to change the effect's speed dynamically, featuring quarter-note (1/4) and eighth-note (1/8) multipliers. However, the real star here is the RAMP mode!
By stepping on and holding the tap tempo switch, the RAMP mode is engaged. The effect speed gradually shifts, ramping up or down. The speed of this transition is set by the RAMP SPEED knob, while the ramp direction is determined by the UP (accelerate) or DOWN (decelerate) toggle switch. Upon releasing the tap tempo switch, the PULSUM gradually returns to its previous speed setting. All of this without needing a big, heavy, and clunky expression pedal!
But it doesn't stop there! Give the TAP TEMPO footswitch a single click, and you enter CANCEL mode: the pedal's oscillator will swing to its lowest point, where the internal bulb turns off, and it will STOP. The bulb remains off—though the volume control still works—simulating the bypass behavior of a vintage Uni-vibe, where the lamp turns off but your signal continues passing through the pedal's preamp.
The PULSUM cuts no corners. With a 100% analog signal chain that is physically separated from the digital control of the TAP TEMPO and RAMP modes, your guitar signal remains pristine, completely untouched by digital converters or processors.
A powerful, robust, and highly capable tool that makes zero compromises without putting any hurdles in your creative path, the PULSUM carries all the attributes to be the definitive vibe in your setup.
